Around the Hotel

Hotel Plaisir is located right in the middle of everything Akihabara has to offer. One of the main streets, Chuo Dori, which turns into a people-only zone on Sundays, is only a three-minute walk. This is the heart of Akihabara Electric Town and if desired, one can spend days of one’s life visiting multi-story stores such as Yodobashi Camera, shopping in Animate’s countless anime and manga shops or testing your skill at the huge SEGA and Taito arcades. Akihabara Gachapon Hall, famous for having hundreds of capsule toy machines, is also located very nearby.

For a taste of the ā€˜real’ Tokyo beyond the ā€œotakuā€ stuff, you’re also within a nice amble from some pretty important historic and artistic sites. Gorgeous Kanda Myojin Shrine, a lively, important Shinto shrine that surprisingly enough is deeply into anime culture (you can even buy IT-themed good luck charms), is a lovely 15-minute walk from the hotel. For something more ā€œold schoolā€ and artisan, there’s a bunch of stores under the tracks at the 2k540 Aki-Oka Artisan complex selling great, handmade Japanese crafts; it’s about a ten-minute walk as well.

The neighborhood definitely lives up to its name ā€œFoodie Paradise.ā€ Ramen shops, curry houses, … you name it. You even got street food which is both good and pocket-friendly at the same time. Plus, there’s that world famous Gundam CafĆ©, right? Practical needs would be met with several … 24-hour convenience stores (konbini); 7-Eleven or FamilyMart would be only steps away from the hotel where you can find your ATM, really good drinks, and quite a surprisingly high-quality ready-made meal.
